Blackcomb Peak is located southeast of Whistler, BC. on the south end of the Blackcomb Glacier. The standard route is to gain the Blackcomb-Spearhead col and follow the easy northeast ridge to the summit. Thers is also a Class 4 route leads up the southwest ridge. Skiers looking for adventure often descend the narrow couloir to the west of the peak which is known locally as "DOA." Skiers should be aware that permanent closures are found on the west face of the peak, primarily to protect skiers and riders on Xhiggie's Meadow from avalanches. A memorial ice axe belonging to extreme skier Trevor Peterson can be found bolted to the rocks just below the summit.
