Perkin's Pillar - South Face
Perkin's Pillar is a spectacular tower that sits on the steep north side of Capricorn Mountain's northeast buttress, 1.2 km west of Mount Meager. All sides of the pillar have vertical or slightly overhanging sections. While the surrounding rock is exceedingly loose, the pillar itself is mostly solid rock although it still has a blanket of loose rock stuck to its lower sides. Its height varies from a low of 70 m on the side that faces Capricorn's northeast buttress to about 150 m on the opposing side.

Name Notes: It was named after the outfitter who supplied Neal Carter's expedition which climbed most of the surrounding peaks in 1931. Sadly, the upper half of Perkin's Pillar collapsed sometime in June of 2005. Only a sharp sliver remains of this once mighty pinnacle, first climbed only 3 years earlier.
