Mount Athabasca
This peak is #13 on the Height List for Alberta .Located at the east end of the Columbia Icefield, on the divide between the Athabasca and Saskatchewan glaciers. It is the last major peak on the divide before it drops to Sunwapta Pass. Mount Athabasca was first climbed by H. Wooley and J. Collie in 1898, the second highest ascent in the Rockies (after Mt. Temple) up to that date. It took them 19 days of horse and foot travel to get to its base, leaving from the Canadian Pacific Railway station at Lake Louise. From the summit, they saw the Columbia Icefields and Mount Columbia for the first time. In their words it was "Bigger than anything in Switzerland".

Name Notes: The peak was named by Norman Collie when he first ascended the peak.
