Flute Summit from Harmony Ridge
A flat-topped peak on the western end of the Fitzsimmons Range, between Fitzsimmons Creek and the Cheakamus River It's the middle summit of a series of hill known as the "Musical Bumps". Access is from the Whistler Mountain ski area. From the top of Harmony Bowl, just hike southeast along the broad ridge to reach the summit. It has interesting ski terrain on the northern and eastern aspects. Its proximity to the Whistler ski area makes it a well-used locale on most days in the winter. The ridge trending northeast from the summit links Flute to Lesser Flute and provides for moderately steep descents off either aspect of the ridge. This ridge also provides a safe route onto less steep slopes during periods of higher avalanche danger. Watch out for the large cornice on the northwest side of the mountain. The edge can be difficult to judge in poor weather and there are very few identifiable landmarks for navigation on the summit plateau.
