It can be ascended as part of the scramble route up Mount Murray, and according to Alan Kane on page 114 of Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies, the name is an "unlikely and unofficial acronym derived from the initials of the first ascent party." There is also a route that starts up the northeast face, gains the low end of the north ridge, then follows the ridge to the summit.

Access to the mountain is from the road directly below the face, or to park at the Burstall Pass Trailhead parking then gain the north ridge.

Name Notes: CEGNFS is the unoffical name for a peak that sits directly north of Mount Murray.
