1. Up the south ridge Drive up to Cypress Bowl, and turn right and double back into the cross country area parking lot. (Do not go to the downhill area parking lot at the end of the road). Once parked, climb the snowbank directly and get onto the public access trail that runs west and north of the cross country area. (Or pay and ski up the groomed hill under the powerline.) With either route you will end up going north up the ridge toward Hollyburn. Eventually the pay area ends and the two trails merge, where you can ski to the summit. (Last bit is steep, but safe).
In fall before snow, there are numerous lakes that freeze over for skating.
This access route required quite a large protest in the early days, when Cypress bowl resorts Ltd tried to prevent access to the area.
