Located S of Mount Rae, NWt of Storm Mountain (Kananaskis), and E of Highway 40. It has a ridge like appearance and sits above a gorgeous valley with a small tarn. There is also a 1.3km trail to Arethusa Cirque.
A difficult scrambling route starts up the south slopes and gains the southeast ridge. The southeast ridge is then followed all of the way to the summit. Along the ridge the crux consists of descending a chimney down a rock step above the airy east face. The optional descent route down the west ridge gets you back down fast, but is very steep. To access Mount Arethusa or the cirque trail park approximatley 1.5 km south of the Highwood Meadows parking lot.
Name Notes: It was named in 1917 after HMS Arethusa, a Royal Navy Light Cruiser sunk on February 11, 1916 during World War I.
