This peak is #2 on the Height List for Newfoundland and Labrador . This peak is #48 in Prominence List for Newfoundland and Labrador .Located in the Torngat Mountains, 5 km east of the head of Tallek Arm, and 6 km west of the McCornick River. This is the second highest peak in Newfoundland and Labrador. The peak itself appears relatively gentle at the actual summit, however there is a steep cliff dropping to an icefield just north and generally rugged terrain all around. Access is by boat to the head of Tallek Arm and the mouth of the Palmer River. Hike up the river and then head east up the first branch valley. Follow the branch valley to a small lake at its head. This point can also be reached by pulling ashore at Ivitak Cove and the mouth of the McCornick River, following the river upstream, and then heading west up a branch valley. From the small lake, head west to reach the base of the south ridge of Torngarsoak. The ridge is initially narrow but non-technical. It broadens and turns curves northeast about halfway up to the summit.
