Name Notes: After the first ascent the climbers proposed the name Mount Plaskett for this peak (after Dr. John S. Plaskett, the first director of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory in Saanich, BC), but it was later discovered that it had already been named Mount Ovington. The neighbouring peak was named after Plaskett instead. The nearby Mount Petrie is named after another director of the same observatory.
