Located just west of the head of Fryatt Creek, and at the head of Divergence Creek. On December 11, 1988 there was a fatality on the North Face route (from Alpine Accidents in Canada website). A party of 2 had finished the face and were on the summit ridge when they stopped to take a picture. The cornice then gave away with one of the party falling 480 metres down the other side of the mountain. She survived the fall, stood up, then fell back down and later died while her partner was carrrying her to a climbers hut.

Name Notes: Named in 1921 by D.B. Dowling who was an engineer with The Geological Survey of Canada. It was named for Andre Belanger who along with G. Franchere and Olive Lapensee cross the Athabasca pass in 1814. Belanger and Lapensee later drowned in the Athabasca River below Brule Lake near Hinton Alberta.
