This peak is #24 in Prominence List for British Columbia .Between N end of Bear River Ridge and Bowser River, just N of Stewart, Cassiar Land District Mount Jancowski is located in the BC Coast range, north of Stewart BC, and south of the Bowser River. It is the highest peak for a huge distance in every direction. To the east is the huge Frank Mackie Glacier, which has offered several ski mountaineering parties a highway northward.

Jancowski itself is very steep on all sides, and surrounded by icefalls, and rugged glaciers.

First Ascent Info:
  CAJ page 144 has an article by Fred Becky called Jancowski, South-West Face, and in that article he says they found a cairn by George Whitmore from 1967. George was originally from California built a cabin in Ape Lake, and is still there as of 2010.

Name Notes: Adopted in 1953, after Jancowski Brothers, pioneers prospectors at Tide Lake.
