This peak is #39 in Prominence List for Colorado .An isolated mountain located just south of Waunita Hot Springs in the Gunnison National Forest. A dirt road climbs high up the southwest flank, from where the summit is a walk. There is also a trail on the north side.

To determine the prominence for this peak, go north, across the Waunita Pass, then start climbing through the complex terrain to the north. You must go north far enough to get around Hot Springs Creek and reach Little Baldy (which is still lower). But finally you get onto a distinct ridge between Canyon Creek and South Quartz creek, and that leads you up to "Granite Mountain" which is higher.
