Nevado de Toluca Summit View
This peak is #2 on the Height List for Mexico . This peak is #1 in Prominence List for Mexico .Nevado de Toluca is located southwest of Mexico City. It's an extinct volcano that is the fourth highest mountain in Mexico. The approach is very easy as a road leads to a couple of high-altitude lakes in the the summit crater. From the crater, the highest point, Pico del Fraile on the southern rim, is an easy scamble with about 500 m of elevation gain. On the northern rim is another slightly lower summit called Pico de la Aguila. Make sure that you're acclimatized before attempting any of the summits.

Name Notes: Xinantecatl, the Aztec name for this mountain, means "The Naked Man".
