This peak is #35 on the Height List for British Columbia .Located south of Commander Mountain, north of Jumbo Pass, and east of the headwaters of Jumbo Creek. Jumbo Mountain was thought to be the highest peak in the Purcell Range until it was found that Farnham was higher. Another notable feat was the first winter ascent in March, 1919 by Conrad Kain (solo) on snowshoes from Farnham Creek in 4.5 hrs.

Name Notes: Named by Edward Warren Harnden after the Jumbo Mining Claim on Toby Creek. The Jumbo mine was originally staked on October 25, 1880 and Daniel Corbin was the owner. They called the mine Jumbo after the elephant that appeared in Phineas Barnum's circus shows in 1882.
