Mount Maye from NW
Located SW of Granite Peak and N of Commander Mountain on the east side of the Lake of the Hanging Glacier. A rather chossy peak with a small glacier on its north side.

Name Notes: Named in 1922 by Alexander Addison McCoubrey after given name of Thomas Starbird's wife. Maye was originally the name for the Lake of the Hanging Glacier but with McCoubrey's persuasion the name was moved to this peak.


1. North Glacier (1928 July) M. Cassels, J. Corry, A. Galloway, A.A McCoubrey, D. McGeary, A. Rolph, E. Feuz Jr, and W. Feuz. From the E side of the Lake of the Hanging Glacier the saddle between Maye and Granite is reached. The N Glacier is ascended beneath the NW ridge, with a long traverse E to bypass a prominent gendarme. (CAJ 44-36) Equipment: Glacier Gear, Alpine Gear
2. South Ridge (Unknown) M. Cassels, J. Corry, A. Galloway, A.A McCoubrey, D. McGeary, A. Rolph, E. Feuz Jr, and W. Feuz. Climb S ridge from the Maye/Commander col. This was the descent for the first ascent party of Maye. The route has been traversed from Commander Mountain. Rock quality was reported as "Dreadful". Equipment: Glacier Gear, Alpine Gear
