Mount Vancouver
This peak is #20 on the Height List for Yukon Territory . This peak is #4 in Prominence List for Yukon Territory .Its northwest ridge was first described by Walter Wood and Bob McCarter as "a long badly corniced tortuous ridge of truly alpine proportions", but none the less, was chosen as the route of the first ascent. The first ascent was made from a base camp that was part of a government project known as "Project Snow Cornice". All the supplies and climbers were flown both in and out, and a series of air drops placed such that the climbers would be able to climb from cache to cache without ferrying loads. However, the mountain itself was still fairly difficult to climb, requiring extensive step cutting and route finding.
