This peak is located at head of the Gilmour Glacier. It is named for Stanley Baldwin who was prime minister of Great Britain for six months in 1923, then again 1924 - 1929, and again 1935 - 1937. Baldwin was employed in his fatherís businesses, including railways, iron and steel manufacturing, and coal mining until he was in his forties. When the elder Baldwin died in 1908, Stanley succeeded to his fatherís parliamentary seat.
