This peak is the highest point of Manastash Ridge. The ridge is a huge area SE of Quartz Mountain, stretching 50km ESE towards Ellensburg and generally declining in elevation. It includes Bald Mountain. A University of Washington Observatory is located on a lower summit (1198m uncharted) about 16km WSW of Ellensburg. Manastash Ridge continues on the farther side of the Yakima River; that portion is charted as Manastash Ridge East and is in the Glacier prominence region.
