This peak is #4 on the Height List for Alaska .It was first climbed by two members of the Sourdough Expedition who approached via the Muldrow Glacier. By mistake they summited the lower north peak instead of the higher south peak. The members where William Taylor and Pete Anderson. The accessed the mountain via the Muldrow Glacier, and planted a huge flagpole on the summit.

Name Notes: Named after the Sourdough Expedition, which made the first climbing attempt on Mount McKinley in 1910.
