This peak is #66 on the Height List for Alberta . This peak is #21 in Prominence List for Alberta .Located S of Storm Mountain (Vermilion) and SE of Stanley Peak at the head of Haffner Creek. Stanley Glacier sits high on the east side of the mountain and there are several snow and ice routes on the face. The mountain can be scrambled up the SW slopes from Haffner Creek.
Name Notes: It was named after John Ball by James Hector in 1858. As Under-secretary of the State for the Colonies, Ball used his influence to raise funds for the Palliser Expedition, and recommended Eugene Bourgeau accompany the expedition as a botanist. Ball was also the first present of the Alpine club (London).
