Name Notes: Is "Mount Hope" in LOJ. We had it as Savoy Peak before that, as of 2005.
Named according to the Kings theme, after the House of Savoy. They were the first kings of a united Italy. The House of Savoy was a dynasty of nobles who traditionally had their domain in Savoy, a region between Piedmont, Italy, France and French-speaking Switzerland. They became Kings of Sardinia and later of Italy. The first Savoy to become king was Victor Emmanuel II, who was the King of Piedmont, Savoy and Sardinia from 1849-1861. On February 18, 1861, he assumed the title as King of Italy to become the first king of a united Italy, a title he held till his death in 1878.
