This peak is #25 in Prominence List for New Mexico .San Andres Peak is the highpoint of the San Andres Mountains, which are located on the southeast side of the White Sand Missile Range in southern New Mexico. In the 1940's, an aerial tram to the summit was built by the military, but it was demolished in the 1980's. Today, the easiest access is via a road that climbs up the mountain's west flank. From the end of the road, the summit is an easy scramble.
