This peak is #11 in Prominence List for California .Mount Pinos is located on the south side of the San Andreas Fault, northwest of Los Angeles. From the east, a road leads to a radio tower on the summit. A trail connects to Sawmill Mountain and other objectives to the west.

The mountain typically gets 1-2m of snow every year and the snowfields can last until June on the north facing slopes.

Name Notes: The Chumash First Nations referred to Pinos as "Iwihinmu" and thought it to be the center of the world ("Liyikshup") and the point where everything was in balance. It was the highest summit in the area to be occupied by First Nations and was close the center of their historic home.
