1. North Face from Mangin Glacier Glacier Travel, steep climb up chimney. From a bivouac camp on the morraines above Aster Lake, walk south to the foot of the Mangin Glacier. In early morning the creeks will all be dry, but by late afternoon on a sunny day, at least one will be filled with water. Rope up and continue south on the glacier. From the distance, the mountain looks impossible, but the notch on the left is easier than it looks. The steepest part is about 1 ropelength long, and is basically a scramble up a steep chimney. Steep but not terribly exposed. Once above the notch, continue up summit snowfield to summit. Equipment: Crampons, Rope, Glacier Gear
