Name Notes: Geographically named from the adjacent, officially named Falk Lake.
For whimsy's sake, this encyclopedia had linked the name of the Russian painter Robert Falk, born in 1886, and founder of the Jack of Diamonds art group to Falk Lake on the fanciful premise that Robert Falk is its eponym. The premise is without basis.
The group consider Paul Cezanne as the only painter worth following, and the rest of visual art to be too trivial and bourgeois. Marxism defines the bourgeoisie as the social class that owns the means of production in a capitalist society. The distinctive feature of Falk's paintings of the time was sculpturing of the form using many layers of different paints.
