This peak is #26 in Prominence List for Montana .Trapper Peak is the highest point in the Bitterroot Mountains and it rises over 1830 m above the nearby Bitterroot Valley. It can be accessed from the Trapper Peak Trailhead using trail 133, the Trapper Creek Trailhead, and the Baker Lake Trailhead. The Trapper Peak Trailhead is the main trail to the summit class 2/3 route.

It is one of the most climbed peaks in the Bitteroot Mountains and the easiest route is only class 2/3.

Name Notes: No one is quite sure how the peak was named but some believe that it was named trapper because of the extensive trapping that took place in the area in the early days of the west.
