Joffre Lakes Picnic Area #3512
Type: Picnic Elevation: 1240 m (4068 ft)
Location:   50.36973,-122.49895     50:22:11, -122:29:56   10U 535632 5579860
(13 km W of Duffey Lake). (22 km E of Pemberton). (4 km SE of Cayoosh Mountain).

Picnic area located immediately north of Lower Joffre Lake. No tables but short hike to the lake for spectacular view.

This parking lot is below the level of the highway on the right hand side as you come up the hill. Paved, and would hold about 50 cars. It is heavily used in summer parking lot overflowing with people going to Joffre Lakes. From this parking lot, a 2 minute trail leads to Lower Joffre Lake.

Access: Drive east from Pemberton on Highway 99 (Duffey Lake Road).

Upper Joffre Lake is about 5 km

Facilities:
 - two pit toilets at camping area, and one at upper lake
 - no picnic tables (that I know of)

Camping is permitted at Upper Joffre Lake, a 5.5 km moderate to challenging hike from the parking lot. There are approximately 26 wilderness campsites, 1 pit toilet, and a bear-proof food storage unit. The small gravel campsites are located on the far (south) end of the lake and accommodate small backcountry tents.

It is clearly visible on the satellite and the hybrid view shows a separate little spur road going down into the parking area.

Bulletins
2020.02.12 Robin Tivy - Parking area not plowed
According to a posting by Steve Jones on Facebook , the main parking lot at Joffre Lakes Provincial Park is no longer being plowed and the small overflow area that is being plowed only provides room for 15 vehicles.
2018.08.02 Robin Tivy - Parking lot filled as usual
This parking lot was filled with cars, which overflowed onto the highway. Could be 100 cars, as it is most summer weekends.
2015.12.16 Andrew Wong - Plowed, room for 8-10 cars
null
2012.11.25 Simon Chesterton - Currently Not Plowed
Drove by there today - no access at the moment. Cayoosh Parking area had a few spots dug out and other vehicles were parking at the side of the road.
2011.02.19 Andrew Wong - Plowed for four vehicles.
Hopefully Parks or Highways will clear more space later this week. Barely room for four vehicles right now.
2009.02.13 Andrew Wong - Plowed to the outhouses.
There's space for 8-10 cars.
2007.01.13 Andrew Wong - Room for 6 vehicles
Plowed with room for six medium sized vehicles.
2006.01.07 Andrew Wong - Most of Parking Lot is Plowed
Unlike past years when only a tiny part of the Joffre Lakes Provincial Park parking area was plowed (room for 4 maybe), the lot was plowed for 20 cars when we drove by this morning. Maybe increased funding for BC Parks, or an overzealous plow operator? Whatever, there's lots of room right now.
2006.01.05 Robin Tivy - Initialized from 1:50,000 map
I initialized this parking lot from the 1:50,000 map.
