Front Ranges
Parent Area: Continental Ranges

Area: 32571 sq km.Location: These are the eastern, and generally lowest, of the three main groupings of the Continental Ranges, and lie generally east of the Bull and Elk Rivers and of a certain fault line extending NW from the area of West Elk Pass to McGregor Pass (the Mt Sir Alexander area; see boundary walk). The eastern boundary is largely undefined here, pending a proper definition of the Rocky Mountain Foothills, which adjoin the Front Ranges on the east and are a separate area. Similarly, the northwestern boundary from the confluence of the Miette and Athabasca Rivers to McGregor Pass is only approximate and may require some further adjusting (this is the common boundary with the Park Ranges).
