| Hobo's Way (the North Ridge of Mount Roach)Ranges: Pacific Cordillera / Coast Mountains / Pacific Ranges / Lillooet Ranges / Cantilever Range An escape from wet coastal weather via a walk up the west fork of Stryen Creek to make the first ascent of the beautiful north ridge of Mount Roach, accompanied by a local canine companion, Hobo. At the end of the dullest June on record in Vancouver, the Lytton forecast showed Thursday mixed, Friday sunny, then showers Saturday, so I took the day (Thursday) off work and Andrew Rennie and I escaped from the overcast to capture this brief weather window on the dry side of the range. Despite showers on the drive up (and even in Lytton itself), it was dry as we headed up the fine but little-used Stryen Creek trail from the popular Stein Valley parking lot [~200m]. We soon found ourselves being accompanied by a large, friendly, energetic canine companion. We rather expected our wolfish...
