Our party headed out on a beautiful spring morning from the West Canyon parking lot. It was a Friday and luckily we didn't see any other hikers on this popular trail. We set a moderate pace, knowing we had lots of daylight, and Justin and Geoff had already been up Golden Ears so we knew the way. It was easy going in summer-like heat for the first five km or so. After passing through an area with log walks and bridges (paradise in the summer!) we came to Alder Flats.
