Caption: View of Telescope Peak (11,047 feet) from the northwest Story: There is a great yearly temperature range in the mountains between Panamint and Death Valley, California. This picture was taken in January and the temperatures on Telescope peak were mostly in the teens (degrees farenheit) all day, though it was bright and sunny and pleasant walking once your body warmed up. In the summer Death Valley regularly sees temperatures of over 120 degrees but on Telescope Peak it is likely to be quite cool even in summer. From Panamint Valley there is roughly 10,000 feet of elevation gain to the summit of the peak; from the Death Valley side there is over 11,000 feet of gain. Telescope Peak is also a high prominence peak (6,168 feet). To see the actual photo you must be a Paid Member |
