Story: This picture was taken while climbing the west ridge of Saxifrage on a hot July afternoon. Our tents are in the meadows on the west side of the lake. On Brian Waddington's version 1 1:50,000 map the lake is shaped like a heart, but on more recent maps the shape seems altered. Never the less, it still looked like a heart to me when I took this photo. I didn't realize that the shape of maps changed with different versions of the 1:50,000. Brian Waddington and Betsy were here on a ski trip on Valentine's Day a few years ago. In summer the lake is swimmable, but cold. Saxifrage and Cassiope from Spetch Creek
