| Lester Pearson was prime minister of Canada from 1963 to 1968. He represented Canada when NATO was formed and was the founding inspiration for the UN Peacekeeping Forces during the Suez Crisis of 1956, for which he received a Nobel Prize. The present day Canadian flag was introduced during his tenure. He resigned in 1968 to make room for Pierre Elliot Trudeau as head of the Liberal party, and died in 1972. |
