| This peak is #4 on the Height List for Yukon Territory . This peak is #3 in Prominence List for Yukon Territory . Bradford Washburn and Robert Bates first climbed it in 1937, the first of the big peaks to be ascended with air support, two years after Mount Steele and twelve years after Mount Logan. Food and supplies were flown into the Walsh Glacier in March, then the climbers themselves in June. The climbers then had to make their way back on their own steam. With a whole succession of camps, they eventually relayed loads up onto the pass at 4200 m between Mount Steele and Lucania, and from there climbed first Lucania, and then traversed over Steele, down the Steele Glacier and out to Burwash Landing. The name "Lucania" is an ancient territorial division of southern Italy, today known as the provinces of Basilicata and Salerno. | | Trip Reports 33 Lucania - Aurora Ridge Route Fred Touche Subject Trips Lucania - Aurora Ridge Journal Articles The West Ridge of Lucania Ikuo AbeTopo Maps | Subject Photos View Thumbnails 21 Mount Lucania - Northeast Flank Fred Touche 11 Mount Lucania and Mount Steele Edwina Podemski 11 Mount Lucania, Mount Steele and Mount Walsh Don Funk 7 Mount Lucania Edwina PodemskiPlacename Photos 12 Millar's High Life Jeremy Frimer | Readers of this Page| 2009.05 | 2009.06 | 2009.07 | 2009.08 | 2009.09 | 2009.10 | 2009.11 | 2009.12 | 2010.01 | 2010.02 | 2010.03 | 2010.04 | 2010.05 | 2010.06 | 2010.07 | Total | | 96 | 74 | 78 | 68 | 95 | 89 | 69 | 68 | 77 | 80 | 91 | 75 | 72 | 74 | 62 | 1168 |
